Forsberg takes home Hart, Hejduk snubbed

June 13, 2003 - By David Smith

Toronto, ON (AZ) -- Avalanche star center Peter Forsberg was named the winner of the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player for the 2002-03 season, at the annual NHL Awards in Toronto. Forsberg beat out fellow Swede Markus Naslund, and Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Forsberg was also honored as a 1st Team All-Star, but lost out on the Pearson to Canucks left wing Markus Naslund.

Right wing Milan Hejduk has to wonder what he needs to do to earn respect? During the season Hejduk was robbed of a deserving all-star nomination, and was equally deserving of making it as a 1st-Team All-Star, but that honor went to Canucks right wing Todd Bertuzzi; who had less goals, points. I guess leading the league in goals just isn't enough to make it as a
1st-Team All-Star is it?
